The Mission
Goaltender evaluation at the amateur level is broken—not because the stats are subtle, but because they're often just wrong. Most leagues don't track shots on goal. When they do, it's a volunteer guessing from the stands. Coaches and scouts know this. They pull up the number anyway, because it's the only paper trail that exists.
CreaseLogic starts by fixing the basics: every shot, save, and goal reviewed from game film by trained, independent human analysts—not an algorithm, and not someone with a stake in the outcome—producing the accurate GAA, SV%, and W/L that should have existed all along. Then we go further—isolating your performance from your team's defense, quantifying rebound control, and benchmarking you against your peers.
Our goal is simple: Give coaches a number they can actually trust—so the best goalies stop getting lost behind bad data.

Our Approach: Fix The Number First
Before we build anything advanced, we make the basics true. Every shot is tracked and verified by trained analysts—producing an accurate box score as a byproduct of the same process that powers our advanced metrics.
Verified Box Score Stats
Every shot, save, and goal is confirmed from game film by a trained, independent analyst—not guessed at by a distracted scorekeeper, not tracked by your own team or parents, and not scored by an AI model. Your shots faced, GAA, SV%, and W/L become numbers you can put your name on.
Shot Classification System
Once the basics are verified, we grade every shot by danger level—Grade X (Defensive Breakdown), A (High Danger), B (Medium), C (Low). This is what powers our Advanced metrics.
The Peer Benchmark Engine
We annotate both goaltenders in every uploaded game, building a "League Average" baseline for every age group. Performance becomes relative and comparable.

We prioritize accuracy over automation. Human-in-the-loop annotation is labor-intensive—but it captures reality that algorithms miss. We accept the friction of manual grading because the data fidelity is worth it.

We don't grade "Was that a good save?" We track objective facts: shot location, screen presence, rebound outcome. No opinions—just verifiable reality that stands independent of bias.
Transparency & Trust
Coaches dismiss "Dad stats" because whoever's tracking them has a stake in the outcome. CreaseLogic data is reviewed by trained, independent analysts with no connection to the goalie's team—every shot is timestamped, video-backed, and peer-benchmarked. Trust is earned through independence and verifiability.
The Long-Term Vision
CreaseLogic is transitioning from a utility tool (an app goalies use to track themselves) to a data authority (a database that defines goalie value).
